Callahan Custom Chopper Grand Opening

Dan Sullivan

A cold Morning didn’t stop the grand opening party for Callahan Custom Choppers at Benchwarmers Sports Bar and Grill in Clermont Florida. We spoke with owner and builder James Callahan, of Callahan Custom Chopper to see just what inspired such a young builder…”I’ve been into bike my whole life. My father used to build old Panheads, shovels and Indians. Around three years ago I started doing my own thing. I got into building the newer, pointer, tribal-style choppers,” commented James.
We got a first-hand look at a signature Callahan Custom design. The dragon tail frame, lightning bolt down tube and handle bars depict the exact description of James’ custom look. Not only are these bikes aesthetically outrageous, but they are engineered for the road. James Callahan’s slick builds can be customized to any riders needs at a starting price of $18,000.
We also got to meet Rhett Rotten, who was hosting his Wall of Death Show at the grand opening Rhett has been flat track and amateur motocross racing all of his life. “The greatest gift for me is keeping the era of old board track racing alive. I ride the wall on a 1927 Indian Scout and a ’57 Harley Hummer. One of the most important parts of my show is the support I receive from the audience. My saying is no matter how many times you fall you’ll never fail as long as you try to get back up. Your TV show and magazine says it all…if there was anyone who was born to ride it’s me.”
What does the future hold for Callahan Custom Choppers? Well this year Callahan Custom is going on tour with Rhett Rotten and coming out with a production line of bikes titled, Rhett Rotten Originals. They will also unveil a new line of custom bobbers this year. Even if you missed the grand opening, you can experience this kind of action every Wednesday night at the Benchwarmers and Callahan Custom Bike Night (see their ad on page 8 for more details).
